Error codes

Every code the gateway and REST API return, with its status and meaning.

Gateway

Send without fundsNothing is charged; top up to continue

Code	HTTP	When
`bad_request`	400	Invalid body, missing model, messages not an array, max_tokens missing (Messages), image rules
`unauthorized`	401	Missing or unknown key; session key used outside the site
`insufficient_funds`	402	The hold does not fit the chosen source
`allowance_not_accepted`	402	The endpoint refuses allowance funding
`key_disabled`	403	The key is disabled
`key_limit_reached`	403	Daily or total key limit
`model_not_allowed`	403	Model outside the key list
`model_not_found`	404	Unknown model or endpoint
`allowance_closing`	409	Allowance-only call during the daily close
`request_too_large`	413	Body over 32 MB or input over the model context
`rate_limited`	429	Key rpm, 10 open calls, or 1,200 per minute per IP
`upstream_unavailable`	503 (502)	Primary and fallbacks failed; maintenance
`endpoint_paused`	503	The launcher paused the endpoint
`internal`	500	Unexpected failure

REST

`day_not_closed, proof_unavailable`	409	Usage proof not available yet or mismatched
`nonce_expired, expired`	410	Sign-in message or prepared transfer expired

`request_too_large`	413	Body too large
`rate_limited`	429	With retry-after
`launch_unavailable, unavailable`	503	Launches or top ups not open on this server
